BUILD THE TEAM.
DO THE WORK.

I built the marketing function, managed a multidisciplinary team and worked closely with product and engineering. My remit combined strategy with hands-on editorial work, communications and international event production. I coordinated two Medium publications, supported audience growth and wrote selected articles myself.

CV / portfolio figures. Audience sizes and product milestones are team outcomes during my Gear / Vara tenure.

Marketing leadership & launches

Built the Gear marketing function from scratch after the company’s $12M funding round, managed a multidisciplinary team of 5+, and worked on messaging for five major product milestones, including Vara mainnet.

PR & product communications

Worked on communications around Gear’s fundraising and Vara’s mainnet launch. The $12M figure describes the company’s funding round; my role was communications and PR.

Content strategy & editorial direction

Planned content, edited drafts and coordinated partner announcements and campaigns. I worked with the U.S.-based legal team to review product claims and token-related language.

Partnerships & community

Worked on co-marketing with Coinbase, Gate.io, HTX, SubWallet, Nova Wallet and Talisman. Planned and hosted partner X Spaces and AMAs.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

I KNOW THE
PRODUCT.

I work closely with technical teams to understand how products work, follow protocol updates and assess what integrations add. I use that knowledge in articles, launch materials, partner communications and talks.

01

L1s, L2s & scaling

I understand L1 and L2 architecture, optimistic and ZK rollups, execution and settlement, fees, finality and liquidity fragmentation—and can explain the trade-offs to different audiences.

02

Substrate & smart contract architecture

Substrate, Rust and WebAssembly concepts; the actor model, asynchronous messages and persistent memory. I understand how these architectural choices affect application development and the user experience.

03

ZK proofs & cross-chain bridges

Cross-chain bridges and interoperability: message verification, asset transfers and trust assumptions. I understand the role of ZK proofs, light clients and finality checks in verifying activity across networks.

ECOSYSTEM KNOWLEDGE

Polkadot / Kusama / Substrate / Ethereum

I understand the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystem, how Substrate-based networks work, and how relay chains, parachains, shared security and XCM fit together. My knowledge covers wallets, developer tools, staking and governance, as well as Ethereum’s EVM-based ecosystem, L2s, rollups, execution, settlement and cross-chain bridges.

Understanding integrations

I understand what integrations add to a product and explain their value to developers and users. These are some of the partners I have worked with.

Wallets & onboardingSubWallet · Nova Wallet · Talisman

How users connect to applications, manage assets, sign transactions and stake. This is the product context behind wallet announcements and onboarding content.

Indexing & developer dataSubQuery · Subsquid

How developers query onchain data and use it in applications. I use this understanding in partner education, workshops and developer content.

OraclesDIA / xRandom

Why applications need external data and verifiable randomness, and how oracles support use cases such as games and NFTs.

Validator infrastructureBlockdaemon

How validator services and delegation support participation in the network, and what that means for staking communications.

Exchanges & educationCoinbase · Gate.io

The difference between an exchange listing, a learning campaign and an onchain onboarding journey. I worked on the content and partner communications for these campaigns.

Katie is a top notch professional who knows web3 landscape back & worth

Mikhail Torbas ↗LINKEDIN COMMENT

I've seen how Kathy works, and she is someone who takes real ownership and actually gets things moving. She goes deep into the product, works closely with teams, and turns that into a clear, credible story. Definitely someone I would recommend to any team building in Web3 or AI

Olga Etmanova ↗LINKEDIN COMMENT

Ekaterina has that rare to find a blend of marketing intuition, the ability to translate tech language into content the public audience will understand and appreciate, and the people skills to connect with users in real life settings like meetups and conferences. Not to mention she gets along with absolutely anyone and everyone, you can't ask for more in your ideal marketing officer. Plus, she has the tenure and has lasted longer than most in this space. It was a pleasure working with her when I had the opportunity to.

Esahm Malik ↗LINKEDIN COMMENT

Katie is incredible! Have worked with her on numerous occasions to help coordinate content for our show and she has such a deep understand of marketing in Web3.

Brandon Zemp ↗LINKEDIN COMMENT

I had the chance to work with Katie for 5 years, and this describes her perfectly. What really stands out is how naturally she bridges the gap between deep technology and clear, compelling storytelling. She doesn’t just “market” a product - she truly understands it, asks the right questions, and translates complex ideas into something meaningful for the audience. On top of that, her soft skills are exceptional: she’s thoughtful, collaborative, and incredibly easy to work with, even in high-pressure environments. And her passion for what she does is obvious - it reflects in the quality of everything she delivers. Any team building something serious in Web3 or AI would be lucky to have her shaping their narrative.

Luisa Medova ↗LINKEDIN COMMENT

Kathy, what you're describing here is genuinely rare! The ability to sit with engineers, understand what they've actually built, and then go on stage and own that narrative (in several languages, no less) in front of a sophisticated audience is truly an amazing skill set. Six years shaping how protocols are perceived, working at the intersection of blockchain infrastructure and AI, and always close enough to the technology to position yourself at the forefront of it. That's the kind of marketer that leaves a mark. Any serious team in Web3 or AI should be lucky to have you!
